General
Are guest players permitted?
Yes, the WIST allows four (4) guest players. Be sure the combination of your rostered players and guest players do not exceed the maximum allowed under the WIST rules.
Are we going to have a game scheduled on Friday night?
Friday night games are intended to be for local teams only. Local teams that will be playing on Friday night will be notified as soon as the schedules are completed so they can plan accordingly. The Friday night games are a direct result of the WIST eliminating games on the Monday of Memorial Day Weekend.
Can a player play on more than one team during the tournament?
The WIST does not permit players to play on more than one team in the tournament. Players are registered to one team for the entirety of the tournament. If a player plays on another team during the tournament, all of the team’s games played will be considered forfeits and the team will not be eligible for championship or consolation games.
Can a team play up an age group.
A team may play up an age group. If a team chooses to play up and the WIST bracketing team allows, they will play in the upper bracket of the older age group. example. An U11 team wants to play up an age group. They will be placed in the Upper division of U12
Can our team register at the field on Saturday morning?
Sorry...registration is done on Wednesday or Friday evening ONLY. Teams that are scheduled to play on Friday must register Wednesday evening.
Can our team use our own Medical Release Forms or do we have to use yours?
Certainly you can use your forms as long as they correctly identify the player, are current for the spring 2010 season. Medical Release Forms do not need to be notarized for the WIST.
Do you allow US Club carded teams?
Yes, we permit both USYSA teams and US Club teams. IMPORTANT: All players participating must be carded under the same govening body, including guest players. USYSA teams may NOT use US Club guest players, and US Club teams may not use USYSA guest players. No mixing.
How are games scheduled for out of town teams (more than 1 hour outside of Westlake)?
Efforts will be made to schedule out of town teams’ first games for late morning on Saturday to avoid a two night hotel stay. However, this effort is dependent on the number and locale of teams entered in this year’s WIST.
How will the U8, U9 and U10 teams handle Throw-ins.
They will throw the ball in on restarts
My club has the same coach for more than one team. Can you schedule those teams so that they don't play at the same time?
We make every effort to accommodate requests like this, however teams MUST make alternate coaching provisions in the event this request can not be honored.
The application form does not look right on my screen (overlapping drop down boxes, long rows over the input fields, etc.) What is going on?
First, you should let the ENTIRE form load BEFORE you scroll. It is a big form.

In short, your computer does not have enough memory (RAM) available to render the form correctly. Here is the solution that will work in most cases:

1. Clear the cache (temporary files) in Internet Explorer (Usually Tools>Internet Options>Remove Temporary files
2. Shut down Internet Explorer
3. Restart the computer
4. Open JUST MS Internet Explorer.
5. Go to Web site, fill out form.

In most cases, this will solve the problem....
We are an out of town team. Do we need a Permit to Travel? If needed, how do we go about getting a Permit to Travel?
If your team is located outside of Ohio-North, you will need a Permit to Travel from your state association. Please contact your league representative or state association for further information. You can also contact the Director at wist@westlakesoccer.org if you have any further questions.
What are the requirements for teams in the U-8 girls division?
Teams that enter the 2010 WIST must be registered with OYSAN or US Club Soccer. Per OYSAN, the following recreation programs are registered through OYSAN.

1) Westlake, 2) Avon Lake, 3) Bay Village, 4) Avon

Every player on a U-8 roster must be registered under the appropriate recreation program in order to be eligible under OYSAN. In order to make sure players are covered for insurance purposes, we will require every U-8 teams to present the following information, NO EXCEPTIONS:

1) Tournament "Event" roster. An "Event" roster may be generated through your clubs registrar using League One. For additional information surrounding Event roster contact Ohio-North. 330-659-0989

2) Birth certificates or player passes (US CLUB Soccer) for each player to make sure players are age appropriate.

Other teams that wish to play in the U-8 division that are not registered will need to register with OYSAN or US Club Soccer. The cost is $12.50 per player, $12.50 per coach, and the tournament fee is $100.00. In addition, the team needs to post a $300.00 bond that will be returned after the tournament. Another alternative is US Club Soccer. Please refer them to the website www.usclubsoccer.com.
